This international Ninja Mountain Summit 2007, which was hosted by Bujinkan Ninjutsu Wels, was held in central Europe at the "Black Mountain Lake" near Salzburg, Austria. This was an opportunity to bring buyu together from 3 different countries to enjoy a weekend full of fellowship and training at a very affordable cost. Training was held from Friday till Sunday under varying weather conditions. There were participants from Austria, the Czech Republic and Hungary. Even a professional Muay-Thai Fighter, who was on location and was preparing himself for his last big fight, took interrest and joined in to find something more; more then just fighting. The instructors shared their insight to this year's theme of Kuki Taiso and real fighting. As a special highlight, special guest instructor David Holt used the feelings of Kuki Taiso of the Kukishinden Ryu to show us real fighting methods using natural weapons, the Kusari Fundo and last but not least, the Shuriken. David placed a great emphasis on training the way Soke wants us to train, in the way that Dr. Massaki Hatsumi is training TODAY. This was real training and continued as the weather changed, giving true meaning to the word Gambatte (Keep Going)! The trainings were held in the woods, day and night ...yes, that was our training hall, the training hall of nature, underneath the sheltering evergreen leaves of the big trees. Wary of some big roots, we were able to perform perfect ukemi on the soft forest floor. And encouraged by nature, new ways of using weapons, feeling and space were found. After training, we warmed ourselfs at the camp fire, warming our hearts with story telling, jokes and laughter. This too gave birth to something new; that of deeper fellowship and good will, and a strengthening of the Bujinkan heart (the Bujinkan community). Many also enjoyed a refreshing swim in the pure waters of the "Black Lake” - refreshing the body, mind and soul.
• Nature is the interrelationships of the elements. • Nature is all around us. • Nature assures universal balance, helping us. • We are all a part of nature. • WE ARE NATURE!
